Our dentists and staff welcome all the family to our dental practice. Children’s dental care is available through the NHS or parents may wish to opt for our private care service. Kids dentistry is important as children need to become familiar with visiting a dentist from an early age. Even though children will naturally lose their baby teeth (milk teeth), by having regular check-ups to the dentist, it will help kids become accustomed to the clinical surroundings.
From six to ten months baby teeth begin to appear. These are commonly known as milk teeth and they play an important role as children grow. Your child’s teeth help with the development of speech and chewing food. Before their permanent teeth appear, parents are advised to bring their children to visit the dentist so we can monitor the health of their milk teeth and ensure there are no foreseeable future problems.
Our dentists will show and teach your child how to brush their teeth properly and will recommend the right kind of toothbrushes and toothpaste to use. We advise parents and guardians to encourage their children to brush at least twice a day. Regular supervision is recommended so by the age of 4 or 5 your child is brushing their teeth correctly by themselves and at the right times.
Your child’s first dental appointment involves understanding their dental health. As your children’s teeth grow they will need to learn and understand the importance of practicing good oral health. Parents and guardians will also be guided with dietary advice but if you would like more information about kids dentistry please contact our dental practice.
